Find Domain Registrar Details
Check which registrar manages a domain's registration. View the registrar's name, website, and contact details when listed in the public registration record.
Check Domain Registration and Expiration Dates
View a domain's creation date, last updated date, and reported expiration date when available. Expiration does not mean the domain will become available to register, as the current owner may renew it.
View Public Domain Contact Information
Look for registrant organization and contact details in the public WHOIS record. Personal information may be redacted or replaced with privacy service details, so a lookup will not always identify the domain owner.
WHOIS Lookup FAQs
What is a WHOIS lookup?
A WHOIS lookup retrieves publicly available registration details for a domain name. Results may include the registrar, creation and expiration dates, domain status, and nameservers. Owner contact details are only shown when publicly available.
Why are domain owner details sometimes hidden?
Personal details may be withheld under data protection rules or the registrar's policies. Domain owners may also use a privacy or proxy service that replaces their contact details. Hidden information does not mean a domain is unregistered.
How current are WHOIS lookup results?
Results reflect the registration data returned by the lookup source. Recent registrations, renewals, transfers, or contact changes may take time to appear. For a domain you manage, check your registrar account to confirm its renewal settings and registration details.
What is RDAP, and how does it differ from WHOIS?
RDAP stands for Registration Data Access Protocol. Like WHOIS, it provides access to domain registration information, but uses a standardized, structured format and supports secure HTTPS connections. RDAP does not make private owner details publicly available.
